Before there were mountains, oceans, stars, or even time as we know it, there was only God. The earth was empty, dark, and without form. Then God spoke.
On the first day, God said, "Let there be light," and instantly light appeared. God separated the light from the darkness, calling the light Day and the darkness Night.
On the second day, God created the sky, separating the waters above from the waters below.
On the third day, God gathered the waters together so dry land could appear. He called the dry land Earth and the waters Seas. Then He covered the land with grass, flowers, plants, and trees filled with fruit.
On the fourth day, God created the sun to rule the day, the moon to rule the night, and countless stars that still shine in the sky today.
On the fifth day, God filled the seas with fish and every kind of sea creature. He filled the skies with birds of every shape and color.
On the sixth day, God created all the animals that roam the earth—lions, elephants, deer, insects, and every living creature. Then came His greatest creation.
God formed the first man, Adam, from the dust of the ground and breathed the breath of life into him. Adam became a living person.
God placed Adam in the beautiful Garden of Eden, where everything he needed was provided. Seeing that Adam should not be alone, God created Eve from one of Adam's ribs. Together, they became the first man and woman.
When God looked at everything He had made, He declared, "It is very good."
On the seventh day, God rested—not because He was tired, but to establish a pattern of rest and worship for humanity.
The story of creation reminds us that the universe was not an accident. According to the Bible, every star, every tree, every animal, and every human life was created with purpose by God.
Life Lesson: You are not here by chance. You were created intentionally, and your life has value and purpose.
